With the Billabong Air & Style Quarter Pipe Innsbruck-Tirol 08 the most traditional Snowboards Contests of the world returns to its roots.
After eight years of abstinence the Air & Style celebrates its comeback to the Bergisel Stadium on February 2nd 08.
That were five years in Seefeld and nearly three years in the Olympic Stadium Munich as the Air & Style Contest returns to its roots with a spectacular Quarter Pipe Contest.
The mix stayed the same: worlds best snowboard action, top live acts and a weekend filled with amazing side events. But one thing will change: the format of the contest. Instead of the big air format, which is held in Munich, 24 top stars will prove their skills on a gigantic Quarter Pipe.
Headed by snowboard legends like Terje Haakonsen, Andy Finch, Risto Mattila and Antti Autti also superstars of tomorrow are confirmed, for example Mason Aguirre, Jouri Podlatchikov and
Scotty Lago. Already in the first year the contest was awarded with 5 stars by the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour.
Two top music acts will complete the perfect line up and make the evening unforgettable. Queens of the Stone Age will headline at the Billabong Air & Style 08. With this live performance in the Bergisel Stadium in Innsbruck they kick off their European tour 2008. The supporting act will be announced in the following weeks.
Up from today the presale started on www.air-style.com and with Ö- Ticket. It is also possible to buy a Ticket in every Raiffeisenbank branch (Reduction for every Raiffeisen Club Member). Moreover, the official homepage of the Air & Style Quarter Pipe Innsbruck-Tirol 08 is launched. Just go to www.air-style.com.
The title sponsor of the Air & Style Quarter Pipe Innsbruck-Tirol 08 is the Australian Boardsportslabel Billabong. Reid Pinder (Brand Manager Billabong Europe): “It is an honour for
Billabong to be part of the return of Air & Style to Bergisel Stadium. Even though it is an inaugural event as a Quarter Pipe Contest this venue has such a big meaning to so many people who love the sport of snowboarding. For Billabong it feels natural to get involved with something that combines the history and the future of snowboarding in such a unique location. We are looking forward to a great event with the world best snowboarders.”
Air & Style founder Andrew Hourmont: “We are very happy to host the Air & Style again at the Bergisel. With both events, Munich and Innsbruck, the basis for a real tour is established. But first of all we have to get these two amazing events going. The return to our roots in Innsbruck is a real motivation for us. Maybe we can manage to continue the Air & Style tradition and write snowboard history again.”
Already in the years 1994 and 1999 the Air & Style was legendary. At the first In-City Snowboard contest snowboard legends such as Shaun Palmer and Terje Haakonsen took part. International Top acts like Ice-T, Faith No More and Cypress Hill turned the event into everlasting memories. Back in these years the foundations for the success of the most important Snowboard contest worldwide were laid.
