Relentless Freeze Festival 2011
The UK’s biggest ever winter sports and music event is returning to London for its 4th year and will see a new format to the event. The event will now run for two days creating nonstop action for festival goers to enjoy.
Once again, Battersea Power Station will be transformed into the ultimate après ski party featuring world class skiers and snowboarders from around the world.
2010 drew huge crowds to the South London site to witness the new and improved event site and enjoy what was the UK’s winter highlight. Artists including Mark Ronson, Pendulum and Roni Size turned the Power Station into the party of the year. With at least 4 stages planned 2011 is set to eclipse all previous years.
At the heart of Freeze lies the incredible 32m high ramp covered in 500 tonnes of real snow that will host the World’s craziest snowboard and ski superstars battling for the prize purse and more importantly the title of Freeze Champion.
Last year’s FIS Snowboard World Cup witnessed Slovenia Marko Grilc take top spot over Seppe Smits and rising superstar Staale Sandbech from Norway. Marko absolutely stomped a backside 1080 double cork to seal the victory.
In ski it was a complete Swedish podium with Armada Ski’s Jacob Wester besting compatriots the ski legend Jon Olsson and Henrik Harlaut. Jacob busted out a perfect 1260 to take top spot.
2011 will include Battle of Britain events for the UK skiers and snowboarders as well as the Legendary FIS World Cup Snowboard Event and the International Freestyle Ski Comp.
Andrew Topham, Events Director at Big Freeze Limited commented: “2010 saw Freeze grow into an established world class festival. Year on year, as with any festival, key learning’s are made and we are now sure we have created the ultimate inner London winter festival.”
