The Hip competition
What is the explosive formula of the Hip competition? Jumps with spins as big as 1200 degrees (er… 1, 2…3 and a half turns in the air) are among the elements required in this discipline. You’ll see fearless freestylers performing moves that will blow your mind and jumps that are seriously big… Their challenge is to stand out from the crowd by executing tricks with perfect style and outrageous daring. As you watch them hurling themselves towards the stars, you can see why they are at the top of the extreme sports game…
The Hip Competition: n. Competitors take off from a big pyramid shaped jump and pull a trick of their choice, then choose which side of the jump to land on. Competitors
The Half-Pipe competition
120 metres long, 6 metres high and 25 metres wide: joining forces with HO5 Park to create this phenomenal pipe, Tignes is promising a mind-blowing show with guaranteed adrenaline rushes… The freestylers are already shaking in their boots!
Oxbow’s Back To Powder
Lolo Favre’s invitation to a backcountry freestyle session. Laurent Favre, nicknamed Lolo, the renowned freestyler who always wears a cap is making the most of Tignes Airwaves season 4 by appearing as master of ceremonies. On January 10th 2008, 11 of his friends from Planet freestyle and Planet freeride have been invited to come to the untracked slopes of Tignes for a backcountry freestyle session.
The concept? - Each rider chooses their own line, picks their own jumps and heads down the slope using the natural landscape and terrain as a playground. Not quite as serious as a classic freeride competition, backcountry freestyle is a discipline which allows riders to bring together freestyle and freeride techniques. The competitors judge each other on style, spirit and fluidity of movement and must choose the winning skier and snowboarder themselves. The prize is a week riding the waves
