X Games
The winter X Games were launched in 1997 after the success of its summer equivalent Extreme Games as they were first known. After its initial success the winter X Games came to Tignes in Europe where the second leg has remained to this day.
The first ever event was held at the Snow Summit Mountain Resort in Big Bear Lake to a crowd of 38,000 since then crowds have swelled to over 70,000 in America and 60,000 in Europe
Some of the most impressive records of the games include Shaun White becoming the first ever athlete to win three times in a row in the superpipe and Nate Holland won the snowboard X five times in a row.
