Tiffindell storms August 2006Residents at the South Africa’s only ski resort, Tiffindell, are currently snowed in as the country experiences exceptionally cold weather and record levels of snow.

The road to Tiffindell is currently closed with up to 3 metres of drifted snow in places, although they are hopeful to be able to open the road tomorrow (Sunday). Resort manager Maaten den Heyer has said it is the largest snowfall to fall in single storm in its 15 year history, and tomorrow should be a powder day from paradise with up to 5m of snow in places.
