Thanks to wonderful early season conditions, Goat’s Eye Mountain will have its earliest opening ever on Thursday, November 23.

When the Goat’s Eye Express takes its first passengers, over 1,800 feet of vertical skiing and riding will available on nine stellar runs. Sunshine Coast, Old Chute, Afterburner, Glade Runner, Scapegoat, Wildfire, Rolling Thunder, Eagle Creek, and lower Freefall will be available to the delight of skiers and snowboarders.
“Last weekend we had the earliest opening ever for Delirium Dive, now the same can be said for Goat’s Eye Mountain,” said Mike Moynihan, Sales & Media Manager for Sunshine Village. “The 2006-07 winter season is off to a roaring start, and it is only getting better with every passing day. New snow is predicted daily over the next five days alone.”
Goat’s Eye Mountain is a much beloved area of Sunshine Village. First opening twelve seasons ago, it brought a welcomed dimension to the resort for intermediate and expert skiers.
Mother Nature alone is not responsible for the early opening of Goat’s Eye. Sunshine Village’s unheralded Trail Crew also plays a major role. Over 25 kilometers of snow fencing is laid by hand, trapping drifting snow like a spider’s web. Once brimming with trapped powder, the snow fences are then uncovered by muscle and hard work. The process then begins anew, relocating the snow fences to grow the coverage for everyone’s enjoyment.
Sunshine Village now has all three of its mountains open to the delight of skiers and boarders
