Big things are brewing at Red Mountain Resort. With the announcement of the purchase of a new quad chairlift and the signing of a major deal with Valencia Hotel Group, based out of Houston, Texas, Red Mountain Resort is gaining ground as a premiere ski destination. Following the normal period of due diligence and final closing, the ground breaking for this 75-suite boutique hotel is set for May, 2008 with anticipated completion in December of 2009.
Named by Forbes Traveler Magazine as one of the continents top ten ski destinations, Red Mountain Resort is a natural choice for Valencia Hotels first move into the Canadian market.
Were thrilled to be making this foray into Canada, says Valencia Hotel Group Partner, Spencer Clements, We were attracted to Red Mountain Resort because of its world class terrain and the old world charm of Rossland. Nestled in the stunning Kootenay region, Red Mountain Resort is the perfect addition to the Valencia Hotel family.
With luxury hotel properties in San Jose, CA, San Antonio, TX, and Houston, TX, and a small luxury condo hotel under construction in Telluride, CO, it was the prestige and reputation of the Valencia Hotel Group that appealed to Howard Katkov, President and CEO of Red Mountain Ventures. The reputation of Red Mountain Resort lends itself well to a partnership with a company like the Valencia Hotel Group, says Katkov, The prestige of their brand is an ideal fit with that of Red Mountain Resort; were very excited to be moving forward together towards the opening of a boutique hotel that reflects the caliber of this resort.
The ski-in ski-out hotel will be located at the base of Red Mountain, renowned for its legendary terrain and deep powder. Minutes from all the character and charm of the nearby authentic ski community of Rossland, guests of the hotel will also enjoy on-site amenities like state of the art technology, an ultra hip Vbar and Citrus restaurant featuring the finest in steaks and chops. Personal stay concierges will queue the service from reservation to departure.
Sothebys International Realty Canada, the exclusive agents for the resort, helped facilitate the deal between Red Mountain Resort and the Valencia Hotel Group and will manage the sales of the strata units which begin in Winter 2007/2008.
Red Mountain Resort is synonymous with world class skiing. It is the character and charm of the community of Rossland that elevates this resort, making it stand out from the crowd, explains Sothebys International Realty Canadas President and CEO, Ross McCredie, This partnership with the Valencia Hotel Group will make Red Mountain Resort an even more desirable location for a vacation property.
In addition to the announcement of the Valencia Hotel Group partnership, Red Mountain Resort has also announced the purchase of a new Doppelmayr CTEC quad chairlift to replace the old Silverlode chair. The new Silverlode chair is the first new chairlift in Rossland in thirty years and is just one of the big things planned for this flourishing resort community. Construction starts in May and by November, 2007, the chair will be up and running, opening up a further 100 acres of novice terrain. Red Mountain Resort currently spans 1,585 acres of skiable terrain with a 2,909 foot vertical drop, and provides 360 degree skiing for all levels.
