Manuela Laura Pesko wins the superpipe contest
Under sunny skies, at Park Citys infamous Superpipe, Manuela Laura Pesko (SUI) successfully delivered back-to-back 720s to win the first contest title of TTR SIX(6)STAR Roxy Chicken Jam, 22nd-25th March, 2007, at Park City/Utah, USA.
With just one more day to go ahead of Saturdays Slopestyle contest and the crowning of the Womens TTR World Snowboard Tour Champion 06/07 the hottest names in female snowboard talent rode todays Superpipe in perfect spring conditions at the 3rd Annual Roxy Chicken Jam in a multiple-run, fun jam session. In the ten-women Final, Manuela Pesko (SUI) claimed the Superpipe title with a back-to-back 720 above the lip combination. It was tight between the top 3 girls but Manuela pulled it together as a whole with a run which had consistency and diversity, stated Mike Basich, legendary snowboarder and Head Judge.
Transition queen, Torah Bright (AUS), continued with her success streak connecting her signature switch backside 540s and cab 720s to take 2nd place above 3rd place podium finisher, Paulina Ligocka (POL), who impressed the judges with consistent frontside 900s.
Brights (AUS) 2nd place increased her TTR Ranking Points by 74.25 points to maintain her lead as the TTR World Nr 1. To win the Womens TTR title, Bright (AUS) will need to finish 9th or higher at Saturdays Slopestyle to convincingly ward off any of her nearest rivals, including reigning TTR World Champion 05/06, Cheryl Maas (NED) and Jaime Anderson (USA). The only possible way for Maas or Anderson to still take the title is to place 1st or 2nd to even beat Brights current ranking score of 931.40 points. Maas (NED) moved up to the TTR World Nr 2 spot with her 4th place result at the Roxy Chicken Jam Superpipe, shifting Anderson (USA) down to World Nr 3. Only her fifth result on the TTR Ranking List presented by Swatch, this season, Peskos (SUI) win boosted her from TTR World Nr 19 to Nr 8 but will not be present at Saturdays Slopestyle.
The last SIX(6)STAR contest on the Womens TTR World Snowboard Tour 06/07, the 3rd Annual Roxy Chicken Jam is the crowning platform for this seasons TTR Champion. With an aggregate six best results calculated for a rider to win the ultimate snowboard title, riders will receive a 25% increased value of TTR Ranking Points in both Superpipe and Slopestyle formats to add to their TTR Ranking scores. The new Womens TTR World Snowboard Tour Champion will join recently crowned male, Shaun White (USA).
