Ästhetiker Wängl Tängl Jam Finals Qualifications

Sat 24 March 07

Brit Sam Cullum was one of the 30 finalists to qualify for the 5*TTR event in Mayrhofen, Austria

The Ästhetiker Wängl Tängl Jam kicked off on Thursday 22nd 2007 with the trainings. As a lot of international riders came in the Austrian resort on Thursday night, the full riders line-up was at the Penken Park, Mayrhofen on Friday morning for the Qualies and sick riding could be expected.

On a super creative park including either a three-kicker line to a step-up bowl or a banked slalom rail line followed by a half-cradle, a corner and two rails, forty riders gathered to get a spot for the Finals, postponed from Saturday 24th March to Sunday 25th March 2007 due to bad weather.

The riders should pick up two different lines to get into the Finals in a best 2 of 3 runs format. Tonton Holland (SUI) qualified first with technical and stylish runs (including a backside 9). Henning Marthinsen (NOR) would also have qualified&but with only one run counting! For his first run on the course, also to be the first judged run of the day, Henning ripped it all and got a big enough score to qualify with a single run. In fact, on his second run, Henning crashed, got injured and went back to Norway for recovery.

As the level of riding was really high, 30 spots will be available for Sundays Finals.
