Tacky Invitational Results
Mon 16 April 07
The riders were pumped, the sun was out, and the crowd was stoked about our first annual Tacky Invitational Slopestyle event that was held in the Olympic slopes of Hafjell, Norway, today Saturday the 14th of April. After an exciting two hour qualifications round with the around 40 contestant, a thrilling final kicked off.
The twelve riders battled it out in the custom made park, and the Norwegian rider Mats Hofgaard won the contest with a run consisting of two 900s and a 720. Mikkel Bang came second, and delivered a run so solid that the judges actually contemplated flipping a coin to determine whether it would be him or Hofgaard who deserved first place. The local Hafjell rider Stian Berget came third, and was the only rider to do the impossible and jump over the tractor obstacle and slide down the rail.
The Norwegian premiere of Big Air Bag was celebrated with a best trick competition. Inge Wiig proved that chickens can fly, and that they are rather competent when it comes to double backflips too. Wiig won the best trick competition with his double backflip, and won an all-inclusive surf camp in Portugal thanks to our friends at La Point Surf Camp.
After a weekend full of parties, poker, barbeques and amazing riding, the Tacky Invitational 2007 competition has come to an end. Tonight there will be a big rider banquet, and a party that would surely impress even the craziest Viking, and a positive attitude that would surely put a smile on the face of even the grimmest Norse church burner
