Ischgl musical-chairs end of season concert change

First it was Beyonce, then Zucchero and now Mel C has picked up this hot-potato of a gig
Melanie C is to star in Ischgl's season-closing Top of the Mountain concert next weekend (April 29).
Ischgl is delighted to sign up the former Spice Girl as a big name replacement for Italian star Zucchero, who had to withdraw for personal reasons.
Melanie C – who made her name as Sporty Spice – is hugely popular in Austria and Germany, as well as Britain, and is sure to attract big crowds to the natural concert arena in the snow at the 2320m high Idalp top station at the Tirolean resort.
The Top of the Mountain event comes just three weeks after a fabulous Easter Monday concert on the slopes featuring pop sensation the Scissor Sisters. More than 20,000 skiers and boarders flocked to Idalp for the free concert, with fans dancing in ski boots to the American band.
Melanie C's gig, scheduled to start at 1pm on Sunday 29 April, is free for all with a liftpass (needed anyway to get to Idalp). The last day of skiing at Ischgl this season is Tuesday 1 May.
Ischgl Tourist Director Andreas Steibl said: "There were a few hiccups with our concert this year. Beyoncé was to appear, but there was a clash of dates with her Australian tour and then the problem for Zucchero. But we are absolutely delighted to have Melanie C carrying on the tradition of top line names closing our season with what we are sure will again be a fabulous event up at Idalp."
She follows a distinguished parade of top stars to appear at the Austrian resort, including Sir Elton John, Tina Turner, Sting, Lionel Richie, Jon Bon Jovi, Ronan Keating, The Corrs, Pink, The Pussycat Dolls, Alanis Morissette, The Sugababes, Bob Dylan and Enrique Iglesias.
