Whistler Mountain opened a week early on November 17 after a series of storms pummeled the mountains. The ski conditions have been fantastic all week with bluebird skies and cold temperatures. The base is currently 95 cm (37 inches). Snowmaking operations have also been in full effect on both mountains; to date, transforming 40 million gallons of water into snow using North America's largest snowmaking system.

Ski conditions are great. This week's cold weather and sunshine have been perfect for snow quality, so expect great skiing on Blackcomb,? says Doug MacFarlane, Mountain Manager for Whistler Blackcomb. The grooming should be great and the long-range forecast is calling for another snow cycle later this weekend.

As of Thursday, the addition of Blackcomb Mountain will boost Whistler Blackcomb?s terrain offering to more than 3,000 acres. Skiers and riders will access Blackcomb Mountain from the Excalibur Gondola in Whistler Village and Wizard Express chair at Blackcomb's base. Solar Coaster, Excelerator, Jersey Cream and Catskinner chairlifts will be open, with terrain park features available in the Nintendo Terrain Park. Downloading to the valley will be from the top of the Excalibur and Wizard.

Skiers and riders can currently access Whistler Mountain via the Whistler Village Gondola. Creekside Gondola re-opens Thursday and will run daily for the season. Skiing will be available down to Olympic Station via the Upper Olympic and Expressway. Big Red Express and Emerald Express will be open, as well as the Habitat Terrain Park. The Children's Learning Centre at Olympic Station will also be open. As of Thursday, guests can download on the Creekside and Whistler Village Gondolas.

This Saturday, Whistler Blackcomb will open access to the alpine with Blackcomb's Crystal Chair and Whistler?s Harmony Express.
