Jones comes 4th in the Chicken Jam

Mon 17 December 07

After some unfortunate weather causing the postponement of competition on Saturday, the skies opened up and the sun shone brightly on the DC Central Park, midway on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, which was reshaped for the Swatch TTR SIX(6)STAR Roxy Chicken Jam. The girls were pumped and loving the set up as they progressed female riding to unbelievable levels, throwing down technical tricks most had never even attempted.

Cheryl Maas (NED) took home the top spot, followed by Jamie Anderson (USA) in second and Claudia Fliri (AUT) rounding out the top three. All three girls proved they were deserving to stand on the podium, but Cheryl Maas dominated the park with clean style and huge tricks. This was Cheryl’s first Tour result this season and she is now 35th in the rankings.

“It’s my first SIX(6)STAR TTR event, and it’s a good start to my season,” said Maas. “It was fun! It was a bit harder riding the new course down in the low part, but if you saw the tricks, everybody was throwing down. It was a real SIX(6)STAR event in my eyes. Good riders!”

Kelly Clark (USA), however, continues her Tour lead as Jenny Jones (GBR), was unable to come out on top to overtake Kelly for Swatch TTR World No. 1. Jenny rode strong in all of her four runs and finished 4th which moves her into World No. 2.

Jamie Anderson who won last year’s Roxy Chicken Jam in Kaprun has moved into World No. 3 after her podium finish and was excited with her results and positive shift in the rankings:

“I ended up getting second and I’m stoked! It was so much fun today, learning new tricks and riding with all the girls. Just watching everyone was awesome because everyone was riding so good! I got some more TTR points too, and I’m down with that! And Just being here, watching the girls do such good tricks was awesome.”

Claudia Fliri rounds out the Top 5 with her 3rd place finish and sits just behind Elizabeth Beerman who is World No. 5:

“I came here without expectations because of my knee injury from before,” said Fliri, “but I’m super happy that I made the Top 3. Look, I have big smile on my face! And it’s sweet to have more points for TTR.”

The first all-girls, SIX(6)STAR event on the World Snowboard Tour was without a doubt the greatest display of female riding from the world’s best female snowboarders. The Tour Drama has been set and will continue at the Burton European Open in Laax, Switzerland.
