The ladies were greeted with bright blue skies for the Slopestyle competition of the Swatch TTR 6-Star Roxy Chicken Jam, the final womens event of the Tour. Focus, however, was placed on the Tour Title in the tightest battle of the season that hosted the best female riders in the business. American snowboarder Jamie Anderson charged past the rest of the pack for the first place finish, pushing her past top competitors Kelly Clark (USA) and Torah Bright (AUS) in the TTR rankings to claim the Womens Swatch TTR World Tour Champion Title and a cool $50,000.Chanelle Sladics (USA) had a great day to take the second place spot as Swiss rider, Sina Candrian rounded out the top three.
The Slopestyle course was in excellent condition and it was a perfect day under the sun at Mammoth Mountain. The course consisted of two jibs at the top and three kickers at the bottom granting riders a vast array of possibilities to get funky, Chicken Jam style. Jamie Anderson put together the smoothest run of the day laying down like butter a smooth backside boardslide right into a Cab 3, following with Cab 540 and ending with a sick FS 540. Chanelle Sladics was pushing the progression throwing a boardslide to 270 out, a Cab 5 and a FS 5.Finally, Sina Candrian completed the podium with her third place, stomping a clean BS 3 and finishing up with a nice FS 7.
Torah Bright, Kelly Clark and Kjersti Oestgaard Buaas, were all favoured to do well in the final womens event of the Tour as each rider, alongside Jamie Anderson, had the potential to take not only the final 6-Star Slopestyle Title, but also the TTR Tour Championship. But the ladies were unable to step up and connect their tricks resulting in finishes outside the Top 5.
As Anderson Claimed her Tour trophy, The Womens TTR Prize Purse worth $110,000 USD was also distributed following the days climactic conclusion. Following Tour Champion Jamie Anderson was Torah Bright finishing in TTR World No. 2 and receiving $25,000. Kelly Clark took TTR World No. 3 and $15,000 as Kjersti Buaas ended up in TTR World No. 4 with $11,000 and Cheryl Maas rounding out the top five at World No. 5 claming $9,000.
Britains Jenny Jones finished in 28th position and with big ranking points available meant she slipped to still an amazing 7th place overall in the World Tour.
Its been a roller coaster ride of a season on the 07/08 Womens Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour and the riders couldnt have asked for a greater finale than the 6-Star Roxy Chicken Jam at Mammoth Mountain.
