It was not the cheese nor the chocolate and at least a Swiss bank account… it was this year’s second stop of the Burton AM Tour 2008/09 that brought some rumble in the jungle back to good old Switzerland.
Last Saturday 31 January, the Gran Masta Park (GMP) in Adelboden-Lenk was the host of another sick Swatch TTR2 Star Event of the Burton AM Tour. Forty-nine riders from Great Britain, the Netherlands and especially from Switzerland met in order to make up the king of the jungle… Let us see who roared the loudest…

The GMP park crew gave their best and created an unbelievable playing field with some awesome kicker lines and a huge mix-up of rails. The riders almost got lost in this white jungle where only the best “Gorillas” were able to stand their ground. The qualification was once again a close affair and the judges had a hard time to name the finalists… the weather was still brilliant when the best “lianaswingers” competed in the finals.

The first places had to be fought out among a handful AM Tour loyal Dutch and British, and the Swiss riders. At the end of this rumble, Markus Mathis from Switzerland did the smoothest jibbing in the snow jungle and won the Junior Boys category. His tree swinging “run” that convinced the judges the most was a Backside 540 Tailgrab followed by an awesome Cap 720 on the biggest kickers in the park. The only British rider, Lewis Courtier-Jones, did the best roaring in the Youth Boys category with a fresh Backside 360 Method and a stylish Frontside 360 Mute on the smaller kicker line. The sweetest run of the Junior Girls category was shown by Sonja Wäfler from Switzerland. The session was over, the Gran Masta was chosen and all the Tarzans and Janes sat back and relaxed in their tree house to see a fine price giving…
The Burton AM Tour crew waves goodbye to good old Switzaaland and swings on to the next trees… The hunt for the BEO package is still going on… Andorra, we are coming!
