Iouri Podladtchikov, the Russian born Swiss rider and defending gold medallist came second followed by Christian Haller (CH). This was Christian’s first Winter X Games medal.
After his third place in Aspen at the beginning of the year, todays winner the Bellefontaine Ohio native, superseded his fellow competitors with a second run scored 93 points and included a back-to-back double cork 1080.
For Iouri Podladtchikov, who didn’t compete in Aspen this January due to an injury, this silver medal confirms that he can throw the biggest tricks and can step up when under pressure. The Moscow native incidentally said that this was his “best day of snowboarding this year”. His Swiss Olympic team-mate completes the podium.
