World Snowboarding Championships Feb 2012

Running from Feb 10th to 19th The World Snowboarding Championships (WSC) is the first championships run directly by snowboarders since 1999.

It is organized by Snowboard-VM 2012 AS – the local organizing company owned by The Arctic Challenge, The Norwegian Snowboard Federation and Oslo Vinterpark. The WSC got a full backing by the global snowboard community as expressed by the unanimous vote at the TTR and WSF general assembly’s in Barcelona, May 2010.

This years event will see no fewer than six Brits competing in the following disciplines

Billy Morgan – Men’s Slopestyle

Jamie Nichols – Men’s Slopestyle

Aimee Fuller – Women’s Slopestyle

Laura Berry- Women’s Slopestyle

Ben Kilner – Men’s Halfpipe

Katie Foster – Women’s Halfpipe

Big things will be expected of Jamie Nichols and the others but Particular attention will be paid to Billy Morgan who went from a relative unknown on the world stage to an international hit with the posting of his triple backside rodeo, filme in the Keystone, Colorado Park.

 

And if you fancy grabbing a piece of action yourself and showing the pros what you can do all you have to do is show up with your board and helmet between 12:00 and 16:00 on Saturday, 11.02 in the Rail park opposite Vulkan (Nordre gate / Nedregate


Registration is free and there are drop-in for 4 hours from 12.00. The judges is  looking for the best 5 runs of each rider run and you can have as many heats you want.

The best boys and girls in different age classes will be included in the final by Mathallen food hall at Vulkan at 18:00. where they are challenged by riders from the WSC 2012.

There are great prizes for the best riders. Photographers will be there to make this day a memorable start to a long and eventful week of WCS snowboarding.

The evening continues at Santos Party House (in Mathallen food hall Vulkan) with its official WSC opening party, and Turbonegro Concert.
