Europe’s top winter action sports competition returns to France for third year. British medal hopefuls Jenny Jones and James Woods are set to compete.

For the third straight year, Winter X Games Tignes will be covered live and exclusively by ESPN on television and broadband in the UK, as the world’s leading skiers and snowboarders gather at Tignes, France March 14-16. The sports media company will provide fans extensive coverage on television and online, via ESPN (TV) and ESPNPlayer.com (broadband streaming service).

Winter X Games Tignes was the first Winter X games event to be held outside of the US when it arrived in Tignes in 2010. Now in its third year, the event gives fans the opportunity to watch many of the top skiers and snowboarders in the world compete in eight different disciplines, inlcuding SuperPipe and Slopestlye competitions. The games will also include a snowmobile demonstration event. Snowmobile competitions, including freestyle and racing, have been a popular addition to Winter X Games in Aspen in recent years.

British stars Jenny Jones and James Woods will join global superstar Shaun White and more than 150 of world’s top snow sport athletes competing in Tignes. Britain’s most successful snowboarder, Jones won gold in the Women’s Slopestyle at the first Winter X Games Tignes in 2010. That victory added to her three Winter X Games triumphs in Aspen, and this year she will be hoping to improve on finish at Tignes in 2011 (eighth). Meanwhile, James Woods, making his second appearance at the games, will be aiming for gold after he became Britain’s first major Slopestyle skiing medalist at last year’s event, when he took bronze.

Other winter sports stars to appear in Tignes include French star Kevin Rolland, who won Ski SuperPipe gold at the games in in 2010 and 2011, and defending Woman’s Snowboard Slopestyle champion, Jamie Anderson.

ESPN’s live coverage of the Winter X Games Europe starts on Wednesday 14^th and runs through to Friday 16^th March. On television, ESPN will broadcast events including the Snowboard SuperPipe men’s and women’s final on Wednesday, the Ski Slopestyle men’s final on Thursday and the Snowboard slopestyle men’s and women’s finals and Friday.
