Glencoe [aka White Corries] is the oldest ski area in Scotland and last year was blessed with 73 consecutive days of fresh snow falls from mid-December to the end of February.

The operators; Glencoe Mountain Ltd have lodged a planning applciation with Highland council covering a number of developments. They include a new toilet and shower block for the resort’s camping area, an extension to the existing cafe
an office building, which will house a shop

Most significantly the plans include a small 40 x 20 m dry slope served by a travelator lift. This will be adjacent to the base of the access chair. Glensee mountain sees the slope as able to accommodate 40-50 people at a time.

Andy Meldrum, the resort's managing director said: “This would enable us to offer skiing all year round. The dry ski slope would be for all the days when we can’t run the tows further up the hill because it’s too stormy.

“It would mainly be used for beginners classes so the school groups that come here to ski will not be disappointed when they can’t go up the hill.

“And in the summer we would expect it to be used mainly by children wanting to go tubing.”
