Aimee Fuller Shares Her Spring Snow Tips!
Caxton FX have brought together two of the hottest snow sport stars in the U.K, Female Alpine Skier Chemmy Alcott and British Snowboarder Aimee Fuller, to produce the Caxton FX Secret Ski Guide, in which Chemmy and Aimee share their insider knowledge on where to see and be seen this spring. We caught up with Aimee to share her plans on the project!
How and why did you decide to get involved with producing the Secret Ski/Riding Guide?
Caxton FX are working with successful women in sport to inspire more people to get into sport at a young age. It is called the ‘Caxton Allstars’ programme, and as part of this they asked Chemmy Alcott and I to collaborate on writing a Secret Ski Guide.
I got involved because I think it's a cool opportunity to give ski and snow lovers a little insider knowledge into the best spots to check out on your ski holiday! It's always hard to find the gems in resorts as there is always such a variety to choose from so hopefully this will give those heading away a few tips!
How did you go about choosing the resorts?
It's a tough one, we ride in so many amazing resorts in different countries but the ones I choose are for sure my standouts. I love resorts that have a fast chair lap, and a good park! The LAAAX Ski Resort, for example in Switzerland has a great snowpark which is a magnet for freestyle snowboarders and attracts a host of international professional riders as well.
What have been your top moments this season and why?
Taking 3rd Place in the World Snowboard tour Spring Battle event and riding the 9 Queens event in Austria have to be my season highlights so far!
The World Snowboard Tour is a collection of independent freestyle snowboarding events which is available to all riders, whether they are Rookie or Pro. It is an amazing thing to compete in which is a unique experience for everyone involved!
The Queens event is slightly different. It’s a media event which brings together some of the world’s best female freeskiers and snowboarders as well as some great photographers and film makers who document the event by producing some great photographs and footage. It is a great event which gives women snowboarders and freeskiers a chance to have full media attention for once.
Where is your favourite resort to ride and who would you take with you?
I am loving Absolut Park in Austria at the moment, it is quiet and a super fun zone to ride. I would take my buddy Jenny Jones with me, for some hot laps! And my boyfriend to teach him to snowboard!
What plans do you have coming up before the end of the season and how will you spend the off season?
For the rest of the season, I will be heading out to Austria for a shoot with Red Bull and then onto Italy for a performance camp with the GB team. In off season I will most likely head down to Australia for a few weeks and ride down there, where I will be riding at Perisher resort in the Snowy Mountains! And if I get time would love to go for a surf but my mine priority is snow time!
Have you got any film projects coming up?
I am working away on a little project potentially in the next month…will keep you posted on that one!
What advice do you have for any up and coming riders?
Get out there with a good crew of people, bend your knees, wear a helmet and have some fun with it!
