Aimee Fuller to ride at Donington Park Trackday!
Winter Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller to take on Women’s Only Motorcycle Trackday challenge at Donington Park
British Winter Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller will swap her snowboard for a motorcycle at Donington Park on 15 July, as she takes on the challenge of the Women’s Only Motorcycle Trackday with Maria Costello MBE.
Fuller, 23, represented Great Britain in the women’s slopestyle event at last year’s Winter Olympics in Sochi, and is one of the country’s rising stars in snowsports. But before starting her career in snowboarding, she was an accomplished motorcyclist and raced in motocross from the age of six.
This will be the first time she’s taken to the track on two wheels though, and is eagerly looking forward to testing her mettle on one of the world’s most famous circuits.
Aimee commented: “I’m really looking forward to riding my KTM RC 390 at Donington Park as quite a few riders have told me it is one of the UK’s best circuits. I’ve been riding road bikes for a year now and doing a track day has always been on my two-wheeled tick list.
“I have no idea what to expect, but I definitely think starting on track to improve my road riding with the ‘boss’ Maria Costello is the safest way for me!”
The Women Only Motorcycle Trackdays with Maria Costello are for women riders of all ability, who want to improve their riding skills and gain more confidence on two wheels in a controlled environment, with instruction, support and coaching from Maria and her team of expert instructors. These days are perfect for female riders of all experience levels, so whether they have just passed their test and wish to gain more experience, or improve on skills already developed, all riders are welcome.
Costello was the first woman to stand on the podium at the Isle of Man TT, and in 2004, became the fastest female to lap the course with an average speed of 114.73mph, and is also the fastest female ever around the Ulster Grand Prix course, the fastest road race in the world. Her services to motorcycling were recognised in 2009, when she was awarded the MBE at Buckingham Palace by Prince Charles.
Maria Costello MBE commented: “It’s great to be welcoming Aimee to our Women’s Only Trackday at Donington Park next week. She’s up for any challenge and I’m sure will love being out on track in our controlled environment.
“The Women Only Motorcycle Trackdays with Maria Costello have been a great success so far, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming more ladies to Donington Park in a warm and friendly learning environment!”
