Event anticipation is rising for riders and spectators alike, as both halfpipe and slopestyle competitions will attract pro-riders, amateurs and juniors from around the world to battle it out for a share of the US$ 125.000 prize-money and valuable 6Star TTR points. Christian Haller (SUI); Peetu Piiroinen (FIN) and Enni Rukajärvi (FIN) are confirmed to attend and many more will follow.
This year the event features a brand-new slopestyle course which was moved to Crap Sogn Gion right by the halfpipe. Around 600 m long in direction to Curnius, the slopestyle course will be more spacious than ever before with the upper part of the course offeringoptions for various lines on the rail features, wallrides and more, before going into the triple kicker.
Enni Rukajärvi is especially excited about this year’s slopestyle competition, since the BEO is her last stop leading up to the Olympics, where slopestyle is a new discipline for the very first time. The Finnish slopestyle queen conquered the BEO by storm when she first competed at the event in 2010 – starting in the pre-qualification and leaving as the slopestyle winner. And a favourite for the world-class halfpipe event is Christian Haller. He has competed at the BEO for the past 10 years, starting in 2004 when he won the BEO Halfpipe Junior Jam and 2006 where he earned the BEO Slopestyle Junior Jam title. With Peetu Piiroinen another regular at podiums across the world will compete at the most prestigious snowboarding event in Europe. The World Snowboard Tour Champion and Olympian won already five BEO titles in the past in both Slopestyle and Halfpipe.
“This year’s Burton European Open in LAAX will be very special!“ says Reto Poltera, Member of the Management of Weisse Arena Gruppe LAAX. “For the past few months, we have been heavily working on the new pro-line at Snowpark Curnius where the slopestyle event will takeplace. The 15th Burton European Open is the 10th anniversary of the partnership between Burton, the BEO and LAAX. A deep friendship is the result and we push each other year by year to offer the best to riders and spectators. This success story is a very special one and we will continue to progress freestyle snowboarding together.”
“We are very excited to get a new slopestyle course for the 10th edition of the BEO in LAAX,” said Marian Kaeding, Marketing Director Burton Europe. “The BEO is the biggest event for us in Europe and with the great partnership we have with LAAX we are happy to step up the event year by year. The effort LAAX is putting into the new pro-line is exceptional and matches our vision of continuously helping to progress the sport.”
The BEO is not only a week filled with world-class snowboarding. There’s much more for riders and spectators to enjoy, including product demo’s, side activities on and off the mountain and not to be forgotten – great entertainment at night with live acts in the Riders Palace Club on Friday, Jan. 17th and Saturday, Jan. 18th, 2014.
All riders, who haven’t registered yet for the open qualifiers, should hurry up as the online registration is closing on Nov. 28th, 2013 - http://ttr.memberpro.net/.
