EDDIE THE EAGLE SELECTS THE NEXT GENERATION
Hundreds of applicants applied, but Eddie the Eagle has shortlisted just 20 finalists for his first-of-its-kind talent spotting competition at Chill Factore, which gives passionate skiers and snowboarders the chance to fulfil their dream of becoming the next big thing in snow sports.
After a long selection process, the 20 hopefuls will be hitting the longest indoor real snow slope to impress Britain’s ski jumping superstar, with five winners securing a place on the Chill Factore Sponsored Athletes Programme, procuring twelve months of slope access and training at Chill Factore.
The grassroots competition called on inspiring youngsters aged between six and 18 to demonstrate their passion and potential and explain why they deserve a place on the Chill Factore Sponsored Athletes Programme. Chill Factore received hundreds of entries from across the country, with young skiers and snowboarders anxious for the chance to prove themselves to Eddie the Eagle.
During an intense judging day on Monday 23rd October, each applicant must show off their skills on the slope, whilst also demonstrating their passion to learn and a keen propensity to pick up new skills. Eddie, working with the panel of judges, will then choose up to five winners who will win a coveted place on the Sponsored Athletes Programme.
Speaking about the competition, Eddie says: “I’m thrilled that the competition inspired so many entries - it’s a really exciting opportunity for the shortlisted applicants. I know first-hand how important it is to support keen young athletes and I’m extremely proud to be a part of the competition process.
“The Sponsored Athletes Programme at Chill Factore helps so many young athletes get started in snow sports. Through the Talent Spotting Initiative, we want to provide young people with the chance to follow their dreams and celebrate the potential and passion I see on the slopes every day.”
