Gillings-Brier eases through World Cup Qualifier
Zoe Gillings-Brier and Maisie Potter have been in action at the Snowboard Cross World Cup in Solitude, USA.
Qualification started yesterday with Gillings-Brier having a storming qualification run, qualifying after run one in 12th place and straight through to Saturday’s quarter finals. In her second ever World Cup, Maisie Potter just missed out on the final, but put in a solid qualification performance.
GB Park and Pipe
The GB Park and Pipe snowboarders had a frustrating day in the office in Laax at the latest Slopestyle World Cup. On Tuesday, after landing her jumps Katie Ormerod fell on the last rail to finish 9th in her heat, just missing out on the semi-final. Aimee Fuller didn’t manage a clean run, finishing 20th in her heat. For the men, Matt McCormick put in a strong performance, finishing 11th in his heat, but with just the top 6 in each heat going through to semis he missed out on finals. Billy Morgan also finished 11th in his heat, also not progressing through to finals.
This weekend, GB Park and Pipe’s Anna Vincenti will be joined by pathway skiers Mike Rowlands, Monty Wright, Joe Hides, Chris McCormick, Felix Klein and Kyle Jenkins at the Slopestyle Europa Cup in St Anton, Austria.
The next World Cup Slopestyle begins next week in Seiser Alm, Italy, with snowboard qualification due to take place on Wednesday followed by ski qualification on Thursday.
Katie Ormerod and GB Park and Pipe skiers James ‘Woodsy’ Woods and first alternate Izzy Atkin will be heading out to Aspen ahead of the US edition of the X Games, kicking off on the 26th January.

About British Ski & Snowboard
British Ski and Snowboard (BSS) is the National Governing Body for Skiing and Snowboarding in the United Kingdom. It is recognised by the International Ski Federation (FIS) and by the British Olympic Association. It is a new organisation which has been set up – following the financial collapse of the British Ski and Snowboard Federation – under the aegis of the British Olympic Association. The British Olympic Association stepped in and launched BSS to ensure that British Athletes could continue to compete at International events. British Ski and Snowboard aims to see British skiers and riders on the podiums at world events in the next four to eight years. www.teambss.org.uk
