Being the youngest female to land a Double Backflip on a snowboard at just 15 years old and the first female to stomp a Backside Double Cork 1080 just a year later, all eyes are on Katie ahead of her debut at the Winter Olympics in 2018.
Katie, famed for her Slopestyle and Big Air wins, showcased her snowboarding skills to guests at Chill Factore’s freestyle park, hitting the kickers and riding the rails and boxes.
Katie explains; “It was a pleasure to visit Chill Factore and showcase freestyle snowboarding to guests. With the Olympics just around the corner, it’s a perfect time to inspire young people and the next generation of athletes to take up snow sports”.
Katie has been into snow sports since the age of three and amongst her many achievements, Katie was the first Brit to win a Big Air World Cup event. She claimed bronze in Snowboard Slopestyle at the Winter X Games 2017 in Aspen, USA, as well as victory at Pleasure Jam in 2015 and the Russian stop of the 2017 FIS Big Air World Cup.
Katie’s visit to Chill Factore follows an event from fellow Team GB athlete, Aimee Fuller, only the day before who ran an exclusive session with Chill Factore’s young sponsored athletes, sharing her top tips and advice on improving their technique.
25-year old Aimee, the first female snowboarder to land a double backflip in competition and first place winner in the British Championships in both the Slopestyle and Big Air categories, says: “It was awesome to meet Chill Factore’s sponsored riders and witness the next generation of snow sport athletes in action. These kids are crazy talented and I’m excited to see their careers progress.”
The events come following a fresh snow fall on the slopes of Chill Factore last month, which saw 900 tonnes of real snow coat the 180m slope.
