More Aussie Pop at Perisher Blue
Sydney-based band ‘Jordan Millar & The Question’ has been crowned winner of the inaugural Perisher Blue Launch Your Band competition, which ran from 19 March to 15 April 2007.
After sieving through an impressive pool of 293 entries, the judges named Jordan Millar & The Question’s ‘Ride It All The Way’ as the winning song that will now become the official soundtrack of Perisher Blue’s 2007 Freeride television commercial on air from 18 May 2007.
The 5 piece pop/rock outfit will also perform LIVE at Perisher Blue’s Spring Carnival in September and score a swag of prizes including a Perisher Blue snow holiday, a NIKON Coolpix L6 camera and $2000 worth of Lonsdale London clothing.
Songs were each judged on originality, composition and relevance to Perisher Blue’s funky freeride scene. Gary Grant, Perisher Blue’s General Manager of Marketing and Hospitality said, “the song ‘Ride It All The Way’ portrays Perisher Blue’s youth-focussed freeride scene. It sounds fresh, upbeat and energetic.”
Martin Adnum, Director of Out of the Square Media said, “We were blown away by the quality and quantity of entries that flooded in. The benchmark has now been set for a successful annual competition which will continue to help unsigned Australian artists.”
The bands named 2nd – 5th included Adelaide based group ‘919’ and Sydney bands ‘astreetlightsong’, ‘Acid Eyeliner’ and ‘Stone Parade’. The top twenty songs will be featured on the Fusion Parks and Pipe on-line jukebox on Perisher Blue’s website and the First Tracks compilation CD.
