The watchwords of comfort, safety and performance are key for wintersports fans and the new lift delivers just that.

The new Piz Seteur gondola with heated seats is at Selva di Gardena and replaces a 20-year-old four person chairlift to give improved access to the popular Sellaronda ski circuit – a 42 km tour around the Sella peaks.

There are 77 cabins with heated seats on the new gondola, with the capacity of transporting 3,450 people per hour up 312 meters from 1,789m to 2,102m altitude.

Also new for 2017/18 is the improved and longer Furdenan drag lift at Ortisei and there are plans to build a new snow park at Furdenan.

Val Gardena is in an impressive UNESCO World Heritage site in northern Italy. Its winter season opens on 6 December when Christmas festivities will already be in full swing. The valley – with the villages of Ortisei, Selva di Gardena and S. Cristina – will be festooned with lights and markets for five weeks.

Why a Heliski Trip to Alaska isn’t just for Pros

Fri 20 October 17

As a location, Alaska represents the very pinnacle in freeride skiing and snowboarding. The combination of mountains, snow and wilderness make it a really special place to go skiing. And because of the scale and remoteness of the mountains helicopters are the perfect tool to access them.

Val Gardena, Italy

Snowboard Guide rating 8 out of 10 “Massive linked area, mostly excellent despite the many flat bits linking it all up. Must be the most beautiful area in the World ”
