“Émile was the skier who left us with the best overall impression,” said head judge and pro skier Charles Gagnier. “He pulled off some ultra technical moves with tons of style and amplitude, and he really maxed the potential of the urban modules with a good variety of tricks and grabs.” Over in the snowboard camp, Vincent Grandmaison knocked the socks off a stellar judging panel including world-famous snowboarders and Quebec City natives Louif Paradis (Jibber of the Year 2016), Laurent-Nicolas Paquin and Frank April. “Vincent made a truly solid film with strong creativity and impeccable style,” said head judge Alex Cantin.
Selected athletes were invited to submit a one-minute video segment showcasing their top urban moves using only structures already in place. Judges were impressed with the moves and style of all of these ski and snowboard athletes hailing from Quebec, British Columbia, the United States and Russia. Films will also be shown on the big screen in front of thousands of spectators at the FIS Snowboard and Freestyle Ski Big Air World Cup grand finals this Saturday at L’Ilot Fleurie.
