Snowboard fun for everyone and smiling faces all over the Betterpark Hintertux were on top of the agenda of this epic weekend in Tux Finkenberg. Andreas MonEpic Monsberger´s recap video sums up the good times. Let it all begin, where it ended last season! After finishing last season at Hintertux Glacier, the Zillertal Välley Rälley came back to the Betterpark Hintertux on October 15th and 16th, 2016, to start into the new season 2016/2017 with the first tourstop.
Teams from all over Europe traveled to Tux Finkenberg, to call in the new Snowboard season on the Coaching Day. Together with the Ästhetiker coaches Steve Gruber, Friedl Kolar, Klaus Hofmeister and Chris Kröll, riders of all age groups and riding levels took over the easy, jib and medium line, while the men were warming up on the pro line already and Andreas monEpic Monsberger captured the action in a one-go top to bottom flick. For the perfect ending of the day, Tux Finkenberg sponsored snacks and drinks for everyone.
Around 80 competitors out of eight categories gathered on the Contest Day at the Red Bull tent to kick-off into the new Välley Rälley contest season with a slopestyle competition. Due to bluebird and perfectly shaped obstacles at the Betterpark Hintertux, spectators witnessed good vibes and smiling faces all over the place. Beside the first valuable points in the Välley Rälley Overall Ranking, points for the World Snowboard Tour Ranking were up for grabs and as every year, the Välley Rälley counts as a part of the Austria Cups by the N.ASA, New Austrian Snowboard Association.
All the stage winners were celebrated as kings and queens in the tried-and-tested Ästhetiker way in front of a great audience and of course, they took home lots of medals, glory, honor and prizes from Ride Snowboards, Red Bull and Greenroom Mayrhofen.
Amber Fennell and Lewis Hopkins from team GBR took the top spot on the Super Groms podiums. Dutch newcomer Melissa Peperkamp did not only win over the actual princess of the Välley, Evy Poppe in the Grom Girls contest, she also took home the title of the “most impressive grom of the day.” Last year´s Hintertux tourstop winner Gabe Adams from GBR defended his first place in the Grom Boys category, while Emma Lantos took home the first gold medal for Austria in the Rookie girls contest. Leon Gütl from Team Snowboard Germany dominated the Rookie Boys podium and raked in the Best Trick Award with a stylish “50-50/270 Tucknee.” Katerina Vojacova from CZE won the women´s competition, while Austrian Coach and previous year´s Hintertux winner Felix Widnig took home the gold medal in the men´s category again.
Sandra Hinnobert, Marketing Hintertux Glacier was delighted about the successful tour start: “Great weather, high riding level – the first Välley Rälley tourstop at the Betterpark Hintertux was a great success! Thanks to the shape crew, the Betterpark Hintertux was ready for the motivated shredders and riders were delivering a great show for both judges and spectators. It has been an amazing weekend with loads of sunshine and great vibes. Our congratulations go out to the winners and we wish everyone good luck for the remaining Välley Rälley tourstops.”
