Cypress Mountain, Canada

Rated 5 out of 10

another great little mountain with all mod cons

Fri 12 October 2007 robin
great terrain and the park is very well kept, its maybee a bit anal but then with all the olympic stuff going on theyre on a mission, here youll find all the rich kids, helmets are mandatory in the park - even the novice park but then thats becoming more and more present wherever you go - worth a day out though not as much fun as the other 2

Small but Good

Don't come expecting huge alpine bowls or steep chutes. If you want those, you have to drive about 2 hours farther along the sea to sky highway. But for a mountain just 15 minutes outside of Vancouver, it has enough runs - from green to black - for a quick fix. It's easily the best of the 3 North Shore mountains.

The WSG review is a bit outdated, because they've since added 2 new high speed quad chairs. Plus the new chairs and facilities for the 2010 Winter Olympics will start construction next summer in 2005. Worth checking out for a day trip for $42 CAD.

Summary
Mid-week, with new snow, can be a good for a day's riding. Not much fun on weekends and for long periods. If you're looking for park; go to Grouse or Seymour nearby. Night riding and the beginner slope are its main pluses.

ON THE SLOPES: Local and small, but some good snow days
OFF THE SLOPES: Vancouver is just 30 mins away
MONEY WISE: Day pass is good value if you use it for night riding as well. It would be a good place to learn before going to a destination resort... Whistler anyone?
