Fernie Alpine Resort, Canada

Introduction

Fernie Alpine Resort deservedly has a reputation for being a powder paradise. With an average annual snowfall of 875cm and enough steep gladed terrain to keep you entertained for the longest of stays, it is not surprising that it has become so popular, especially with the Antipodean snowboarding contingent. Since the take over by Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (owners of Lake Louise) the ski area has doubled in size. The two new chairs have opened the doors to three bowls, Timber, Currie and Siberia that offer some of the mountains most challenging terrain. Beginners, intermediate and advanced riders will feel equally at home on the slopes and if for some reason you decide to leave your board at home for the day, there are a number of activities from dog sledding to snowmobiling that will entertain you.

New for season

07/08: There is no longer a park in Fernie. RCR who own the resort have decided to take all jumps and pipes out of their resorts. There is a new rail park, but it's not up to much.
04/05:Three areas have been gladed for easier access. DayLodge will be upgraded, new cat has been added to the grooming fleet. New access from Currie Bowl to Bear Chair.
