Feldberg is located in the south west of Germany in the Black Forest, only a stones' throw from the French and Swiss borders. The town of Feldberg is a sprawling affair offering visitors a mass of attractions all year round. As a winter destination, this adequate resort is regarded by many in Germany as the country's Number One resort. This is despite the fact that in terms of terrain, Feldberg's 50 kms of piste are only half of what is available over in Germany's most famous resort, Garmisch, located south of Munich.

Feldberg’s location means that if you are planning to visit by air, then the easiest way to get here is to fly into Zurich in Switzerland and then hire a car and drive up, or catch a bus.

In terms of skiing and snowboarding, Feldberg attracts a lot of families as the two main mountain areas are made up largely of novice trails with a few intermediate slopes. All the runs are laid out over wide open spaces, with a splattering of trees here and there -namely on the Grafenmatt-Hochst mountain. This mountain is the one and only area that has anything difficult to ride, with a few interesting black trails to check out. The runs on the Seebuck mountain are mostly intermediate trails, while the Gafenmatte is home to the best novice slopes.

Overall, this is not a place that you would want to spend more than a few days. Unless you are braindead or a child in nappies, the size and pace of what is going on here will have you bored after three days.
