Valmiera, Latvia

Valmiera is the main snowboarders hangout in Latvia, and is located 80 miles (130km) north of the Latvian capital Riga. What you get here are two slopes, with longest measuring a mere 170 metres and serviced by two basic lifts and one snow-cannon the (only one in Latvia). You couldn't split this place into styles and levels, suffice to say that novices alone will have half an hours fun. The winter allows for some limited riding on real snow while the summer sees an influx of boarders to ride the only sliding carpet, (better known as a 'Dry Slope'), in the Baltics. During the summer a lot of BMX riders also turn up to ride the BMX dirt track, while others simply come to chill out and take the occasional boat trip on the river Gauja?.
