Loon Mountain, USA

Freeriding

Freeriders have a tree-covered mountain that allows for some good riding experiences. The Kissin' Cousin is a popular warm-up area, before trying out the likes of Speakeasy, reached by the Kancamagus chair. The East Basin is also a popular freeride area, where you'll find some decent wind-lips to track up.

Freestylers

Freestylers have a full-on fun-park called Skid Road, which snowboarders travel a long way to ride. Located on Lower Flying Fox and approximately 1,500m long, the park has plenty of very big hits including a 100 metre halfpipe.

Pistes

Carvers will soon realise that Loon is the mountain for them. It offers a great chance to perform to watching onlookers, as you carve big turns on long, well prepared trails. Some of the best runs are the Flume and the Upper and Lower Walking Boss, an area that offers some cool carving on either blue or black trails. There is also plenty for novice and intermediate alpine riders.

Beginners

Beginners will find plenty here. The best and easiest stuff is found on the West Basin, while the mid-section of the Seven Brothers chair offers something a little more testing. Loon Ski School offers a very good learning snowboard clinic.
