Molltaler Glacier, Austria

Resort life

Town is really stretching things; you’ll find a few tiny villages spread out along the 106. Flattach, Kleindorf are the main ones but you can also stay a bit closer to the Glacier by staying in Innerfragant which is 8km from Kleindorf and a short distance from the funicular.

There’s a good ski bus service that runs all over the villages that runs 3 times a day to and from the base, but the last bus back to Flattach is at 16:45

Eating

Dublins does pizza’s and there’s a reasonable restaurant underneath the sport hotel called Pizzeria Mamma Mia that makes them on the spot and is open until midnight.

Nightlife

This isn’t a party place by stretch of the imagination but there are a few bars dotted around that are open late. The Rock Pub in Flattach stays open quite late is in the centre of the village.

In Kleindorf there’s an Irish Bar called Dublins, it’s on the left hand side of the road as you drive from Flattach and its open till 4am. There’s also a small disco in the Sport Hotel in Kleindorf

Accomodation

Flattach – if its luxury you’re after then head to the 4* Flattacher Hof which is right in the centre of the village but expect to pay 80 euros per person for the privilege. There are a good number of apartments and b&b’s for those on a budget. Apartment Hasslacher on the outskirts of Flattach is a good choice, it’s friendly owners offer a good quality apartment from 40 euros for 2 people sharing.

In the Kleindorf the Sporthotel has rooms from 50 euros per person, and the 3* Alpenhotel Badmeister just outside Innerfragant is about as close as you can get to the funicular.

Visit www.flattach.at or head to the tourist information which is on the main road just as you enter Flattach.
