Bad Gastein , Austria

Zoes view

British Olympic Boarder-X

There is a world cup competition here every year and they usually have the finals at night which is cool to watch

Bad Gastein is an old Austrian spa town that is located in the middle of the Salzberg region along the Gastein Valley and perched up at a height of some 1080 metres a short distance from the village of Bad Hofgastein. What you have here is a relatively unknown but large ridable area which is basically split into four resorts that although each are simular, they never the less offer something different.

Collectively you have over 200km of marked out piste to ride though it should be pointed out that not all the areas or pistes are linked up by lifts. So study the local piste maps to ensure that you don't have any problems finding slopes and lifts. Overall this is an area that predominantly favours intermediate riders with an excellent choice of crusing runs to enjoy. Bad Gastein gives direct access to the slopes on the Stubnerkogel, Sportgastein and higher up to the summit of Kreuzkogel.

You can also gain access via Bad Gastein to the half dozen or so runs on the Gravkoel where you will find some decent trees to shread. Bad Hofgastein and the area known as Dorfgastein are two other locations where you can do some cool riding.
