Ellmau/ Scheffau, Austria
Freeriding
Freeriders who know their stuff, won’t find the offerings here to their general liking. You can have a good time but nothing is that testing or to prolonged in terms of long runs and although the Ski Welt offers a lot of riding opportunities, a weeks trip would be better spent at a more adventurous resort. However an okay trail to check out, is down from Brandstadl to Scheffau.
Freestylers
Freestylers should make the trip to the resort of Westendorf, via a bus from Brixen, to check out their halfpipe and terrain park because it’s the best place to get any big air from. This is not a freestylers resort whether you want natural hits or man mad offerings. Ellmau does have a park and pipe but it’s a bit of a joke. But like any resort, if you look hard enough, you will find something to leap off.Pistes
Riders of limited experience can have a great time at Ellmau or at any of the nearby linked resorts. The area boasts a lot of wide and well groomed runs that will let you cruise with ease for hours on end. Check out the Hohe Salve for some fun.Beginners
Beginners are the one group who should have no problems with this resort even if the place is a bit fragmented. There are plenty of easy to reach nursery slopes and a large area with many t-bars right in Ellmau town itself. The area also boasts miles of easy slopes to progress onto.
