Filzmoos is just a 45 minute drive away from Salzburg and provides a picture perfect location for those wanting an authentic taste of Austria. Situated at the foot of the Dachstein and Bischofsmutze mountains Filzmoos is very much a family orientated resort set in an Austrian village and bustles with old school charm.

You are never far from hearing the ringing of bells as Horse drawn sleighs travel through the picturesque streets. Filzmoos also hosts the International Hot Air Balloon week which is worth a visit if you are there at the right time.

Filzmoos is built up with a mixture of original Guest Houses, farm buildings, shops, traditional restaurants and a number of bars. It is clear that Filzmoos has got the balance right between tradition and modernization and at its centre stands a beautiful church.

Although Filzmoos itself is quite small in terms of terrain those visiting the resort will find a variety of challengers suited to all levels of riders, and the centre has 3 snow schools ready to help beginners make their first turns. The mountain itself is split up into three main areas that offer a variety of runs, these are all linked by a regular free ski buses. The best news for most riders is the lifts rarely have any queues even in peak season which makes for a refreshing change

Youth: born in 1993, 1994 and 1995
Children: born from 1996 - 2005
Children born in 2006 or after free of charge (only accompanied by an adult - except for a few nursery slope lifts and when in ski school)
Children in ski lessons (born 2006 and after) are entitled to reduced lift passes on presentation of their ski school ticket.
Family bonus: families with 3 or more children - on production of proof of family membership - receive a free ski pass for the youngest child(ren).

A picture postcard Austrian village, with lots to see and do. The ammount of terrain would be limiting for any longer than a week but provides challanges for all levels of riders. The lift pass covers the huge Ski Amade area which provides ample opportunities for venturing further afield

MONEY WISE: Filzmooos is not overly expensive an average beer will set you back between £2.50 and £3. Meal prices vary but an average meal out probably costs about 15 euros depending on amount of courses and drinks.
