Schlick 2000, Austria
Schlick 2000 is an area which is unknown to many apart from the local boys. Schlick is found just a short drive from Innsbruck on the valley to Stubai Glacier. So why the secret! Its simple it’s a large bowl which attracts lots of powder and keeps the weather out, when the rest are closed. Schlick isn’t an area you’ll head for a weeks holiday ; the area isn’t great in size but you’ll have lots of fun, a day is more than enough.
If its been a powder day then don’t give up on fresh traxs the next day as you might find it untracked again, as there is always a bit of a breeze. Its very tempting but make sure you know where you’re going in the powder as there’s plenty of cliffs to falls off and avalanches are common. More than likely though you’ll end up getting lost in the trees and end up in the wrong village so seek local help.
