Resorts best for hitting the piste
1. Verbier , Switzerland
“Extremely good resort with some of the best extreme terrain in Switzerland and the world for that matter. ”

2. Whistler/Blackcomb , Canada
“Major riding for all styles and all levels, especially backcountry and amazing park and pipes. But take note: lift queues can be very long, especially at Easter and Christmas. Avoid major holidays if an option and Sundays are quieter than Saturdays, especially on Blackcomb. Great summer riding on Blackcomb Glacier.”

3. Courchevel , France
“Good all-round resort. Miles of groomed piste and natural terrain. An excellent intermediate/advanced resort but expensive. If you're a beginner, save your money and come here when you can fully utilise the whole resort. ”

4. Les Arcs , France
“A great freeriders resort with lots of off-piste and powder, plus natural hits to explore. A major tourist spot with lively nightlife.”
5. St Anton , Austria
“By far the best freeriders resort in Austria and backed up by a world class village. It all comes at quite a price and the British invasian is leaving it less Austrian every year.”

6. Davos , Switzerland
“The best overall resort in Switzerland offering something for everyone. Huge pisted area and excellent freeriding spread across 5 mountains, and not to mention the terrain park and 2 halpipes. Direct train services and good local services complete the package, but go mid-week to avoid the masses.”

7. Heavenly , USA
“Its American! On a normal snow day well groomed trails and easy to follow maps, although not that much in terms of steeps on piste. However on a powder day almost ridiculous in terms of off piste riding both in terms of quality and accessability.
4 snowboard parks all well maintained ranging from Groove at Cal Base for beginners to High Roller off Canyon chair for some seriously large features.”

8. Mammoth Mountain , USA
“Award winning parks & pipes, great freeriding, but try and avoid weekends. ”

9. Beaver Creek , USA
“Great grooming and solid steeps - at a steep price
Beaver Creek's steeps and rollers are great for freeriding, and the grooming is second to none. Beginners can also take advantage of their nationally ranked ski and ride schools. Nightlife is expensive, befitting the well-heeled crowd that prefers furs to fleece. ”
10. Big White , Canada
“Excellent freeriding on crowd-free slopes, with great terrain for all levels. Local facilities are very basic but good. Night life is tame but okay.”
