Banff Town, Canada

Introduction

Banff is the link town for Lake Louise, Norquay and Sunshine. Although the resorts don't link on the slopes they all share a joint lift pass. Getting around Banff and the other resorts is easy via the regular daily bus service. Lake Louise is the most popular of the three, so it's best to get up early and catch the first bus if you want to cut first tracks. The bus starts at one end of town and stops at various hotels until there is no more room. Norquay is the nearest resort to Banff and takes 10 minutes; Sunshine is 10 miles out of Banff, whilst Lake Louise is 32 miles away and takes 45 minutes. If you miss the bus and don't have a car, hitching is a popular way to get to the resorts. Banff has a number of good snowboard shops. The main ones are Rude Boys, Unlimited, and Frozen Ocean. Skaters will find a skate-park in Canmore which is only 15 minutes outside Banff.
