i spent 3 weeks in the resort of termas de chillan in july 2003. the accommodation is of three levels, you have the grand which is full of well to do people from santiago or brazil, very expensive and quite snobby, there is one hotel called la paglia which is much more reasonablely priced, but it is definately of 3 not 4 star quality. the third option is self catering in modern comfortable apartments in several 5/6 storey blocks. this is the option we chose, there is a small shop on site, but it is very baasic and very expensive, it is also a two hour walk into the very small village which has two more small shops. there are a few resteaurants in the resort which are pretty good but you have to reserve a table. the snow was great the piste is good and after two or three days you get to quite like the quaintness of the old and slow lift system, the views are magnificent, especialy when the sun goes down. there is some really good off piste riding, several open bowls which for some reason nobody uses, for two and a half weeks we had this huge playground full of waist deep powder to ourselves whilst everyone else stuck to the piste, crazy or what. overall i thought this was a great resort but very isolated, very very few people on the staff spoke english, but most brazilians do which was a great help.
