Tahko, Finland
Introduction
Tahko is regarded by many Finnish snowboarders as their premier resort, and when compared with what else is on offer in the country , is easy to see why. The resort attracts many cross-country skiers, but these strange creatures that dress in spray-on clothing set off into the trees and thankfully aren’t seen again until the later hours of the day. Lucky, as the terrain is not very extensive and can easily become clogged up with two plankers of all types.
Riding on the Tahkovuori hill is not going to excite you for very long: a few hours and you will have done the lot. Still, the terrain is not bad and the pistes are well looked after, with full snowmaking facilities to help when the real stuff is in short supply. All the runs are cut through trees, offering slopes to suit intermediate and novice riders, but absolutely nothing for advanced riders to get their teeth into.
