Resort life

St Jean is a small village, with around 1000 local residents, but it still offers a decent selection of bars and restaurants. Not all of them are English speaking mind, but you will find a friendly, relaxed atmosphere throughout. What you won't find is anything in the way of partying; the evening activities go at a slower pace, more suited to families.

There's a flexible range of accommodation in St Jean, from bed and breakfast, half board or self-catered to hotels or chalets. The tourist office for the Vallee d'Aulps, which covers St Jean, among other villages, is a good place to start. Whatever you pick, you'll find something quintessentially french. Some chalets provide a daily transfer service, happy to take you to/collect you from lifts outside of St Jean. Such a personal service is great for convenience and full area access.

As well as some accommodation options at the St Jean base station, you'll find similar options at La Chevrerie, as well as a restaurant and the ski/snowboard school.
