La Clusaz, only an hour from Grenoble, is a great beginners and intermediate resort. The expert rider will get pissed off by the lack of piste bashing that’s done. The resort has some great steep and long runs but just lets the moguls build up so the skiers can bump away all day. That said if you head over to the Fernuy and Balme gondalers you’ll find space to crank out a few turns. The lift systems modern and efficient, outside of school holidays, and virtually all the resort is north facing so while you won’t get a tan you will find good snow conditions. The resort is a little low with all the boarding under 2500 meters but with it’s proximity to Annecy and Geneva lakes and its northern aspects it has a good snow record. While not being a world beater you could do a lot worse than spend a week here unless you like it hardcore then maybe a day or two will be enough.
