Auli, India
Introduction
Auli is located in the Garhwal Himalayas and lies at an altitude of 2,500-3,048m in the province of Uttaranchal close to both the Chinese and Nepalese borders. It is within sight of Nanda Devi which, at 7816 metres, is one of the world’s highest mountains. Boasting 12 miles of wooded piste and an average snow fall of 3 metres, the Winter Games Federation of India holds many events here, and they even have two German built piste bashers.
There are some budget huts which are government run near Auli, and a few options for food. At all resorts in India it’s important to take your own equipment. The best way to get here is by private car or to take a train from Delhi to Haridwar. From here many buses go to Josimath then you’ll have to take a taxi.
