Prato Nevoso, Italy
Introduction
Prato Nevoso is a relatively unknown resort, yet this small and very friendly place has been operating as a ski resort since 1965. Although Prato Nevoso is not a big nor adventurous hangout, it is still good with some nice terrain that will please intermediate carvers and bring a smile to the face of all novices.
Prato Nevoso is located close to the French border, only a pebbles' throw from the Mediterranean sea in the southern part of the Alps. Despite its proximity to warmer areas, this is an area with a good annual snow record - with heavy snowfalls throughout the winter months. Since its beginning, the resort has constantly improved its facilities and is currently working on plans for new lifts which will greatly improve access and acreage of rideable snow.
On its own, Prato Nevoso is tiny with only 30km of piste, however, when linked with the resort of Aresina, the rideable acreage rises to a respectable 100+km. Lifts join to another two resorts, to form an area know as the Mondole Ski which offer a splattering of trees, some nice powder and wide open slopes.
