World Snowboard Guide Insurance

Furano Ski Resort, Japan

Introduction

Furano is a major summer and winter destination resort run by the Prince Hotels Group, which offers the largest hotels slopeside. It is located in the centre of Hokkaido, not far from Asahikawa City, meaning it gets some of the lightest and driest snow in Japan. It also means it can get stupidly cold during the months of January and February, so come prepared.

This resort is one of Japan's more famous ski areas and plays host to a World Cup Snowboard event every year, although like most resorts in Hokkaido, it's still relatively unknown in the western world. Furano is split into two areas, the Kitanomine Zone and the Furano Zone. Throughout both areas you will find a good selection of terrain suitable for most levels of rider, in addition to some good night skiing trails.
