Kiroro Snow World, Japan
Introduction
Kiroro Snow World was first established by Yamaha (yes the guys that make keyboards and motorbikes!). Its coastal-Hokkaido location means Kiroro gets ludicrous amounts of snow. The quality is a little wetter than that of Hokkaido’s more inland resorts, but with over 13metres a season who really cares? The abundance of white stuff means the resort opens earlier than anywhere else in Japan and doesn’t close till late May, permitting approximately 167 riding days in total.
The lifts here are of a high standard: mostly detachable high speeds with bubbles helping to keep the frost bite off your face. They currently access a moderate range of terrain options spreading over two peaks: Nagamine and Asari. What’s more, Kiroro have plans to expand the ride area over the next few years.
