Mt Hutt, New Zealand
Introduction
Mount Hutt is the third resort in Mount Cook Line's 'Big Three', located 30 minutes from Methven. This is an early opening resort mainly thanks to its snowmaking facilities as well as the high altitude. You can enjoy some of the best snow cover for the longest season in the South Island. The 9 lifts service an excellent expanse of terrain for everybody to take advantage off. Being one of NZ's biggest commercial resorts means that Mt Hutt can become very busy, attracting a lot of family ski groups. However, don't let that stop you, the resort is very snowboard friendly and there are plenty of good areas to ride with out crashing into two plankers all day. As with most of the NZ resorts access is via an ungraded road, which can be closed during snow or windy storms.
New for season
2005: new 6-seater chairlift, and reorganisation of the lift system removing all the old drags. New beginners trail.
2004: new 10,000m2 terrain park being moulded
